Overcome Your Dental Anxiety with IV Sedation

February 19, 2020

Does your fear of dental treatment keep you from going to the dentist? Having a fear of the dentist is one of the most common reasons people neglect their dental health. We understand that some people experience great anxiety when they go to the dentist. Here at Apple Tree Dental in Rexburg, we offer soothing IV sedation for patients that experience dental fear and anxiety. We make it easy for patients with dental anxiety to get the treatment they need.

IV Sedation

How IV Sedation Works

With IV sedation we are able to directly administer the sedative medications to you. By doing this we are able to control the level of sedation that our patents are under. We can help patients reach adequate levels of sedation as needed, and you will simply recover when the procedure is complete. While under the sedation a patient may feel drowsy or sleepy, but will still be able to respond to verbal prompts.

When you are finished with your appointment and are ready to go home after having an IV sedation, you must plan for a friend or family member to give you a ride. It would be wise to have someone stay with you for the rest of the day to make sure you are fully alert. When you get home you should relax, rest, eat light, and avoid strenuous activities for the rest of the day.
